MLA post remains, TMC membership uncertain - Speculation in Bengal politics

According to media reports, MLAs like Madan Mitra, Firhad Hakim and Shovondeb Chatterjee will remain MLAs in West Bengal Assembly till the end of their term.

However, sources claim they will no longer remain members of Trinamool Congress or TMC MLAs. Allegation is that due to current situation in state politics, they have left their party or quit the party.

Note: MLA post and party membership are separate. Till resignation, MLA post continues till term ends. Party membership depends on party decision. This is news based on media sources till official notification/party statement comes.

Following a long-standing dispute, the West Bengal government has taken a significant step toward clearing the outstanding Dearness Allowance (DA) dues of state government employees and pensioners. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made an announcement regarding this matter on Sunday afternoon, prior to the declaration of the election schedule in the state. Notably, even before her announcement, the Finance Department had issued several notifications and memoranda on March 13, stating that the DA arrears—accrued between April 2008 and December 2019—would be cleared in a phased manner.
