India Suspends Bangladesh Transshipment Privileges — A Strategic Move in Trade and Logistics  Reported by Sanchita chatterjee: India has officially suspended Bangladesh’s transshipment privileges, signaling a notable shift in regional trade policy. Introduced in June 2020, this arrangement allowed Bangladeshi export cargo to move through Indian ports, airports, and land customs stations en route to third countries. However, a recent circular from the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs has withdrawn this facility immediately. Shipments already inside Indian territory have been granted a limited window to exit.  Officials have pointed to operational constraints as the primary reason. Increasing congestion at India’s major ports and airports was beginning to affect domestic exporters, causing shipment delays, higher logistics costs, and added strain on supply chains. A court in Madurai has sentenced nine policemen to death or life imprisonment for the 2020 lynching of a father and son in police custody during the lockdown in Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu.

   Reported by Sanchita chatterjee: A court in  has sentenced nine policemen to death or life imprisonment for the 2020 lynching of a father and son in police custody during the lockdown in Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu.  P Jayaraj (58) and his son J Benix (38). Charges: They were arrested for violating lockdown rules by keeping their shops open. Torture: They were subjected to unspeakable torture in police custody at Sathankulam police station, leading to their deaths. Trial: Judge G Muthukumaran of the First Additional District Court in Madurai pronounced the verdict and termed the incident as "abuse of police power".  Convicted policemen: Inspector S Sridhar, Sub-Inspector P Raghu Ganesh and K Balakrishnan, Head Constables S Murugan and A Sami Durai and Constables M Muthuraja, S Vel Muthu, S Chelladurai and X Thomas Francis.
