It felt as though the Earth, having endured such intense heat, was finally poised to find its calm. And so it did. After the exhausting struggle against the stifling heat, torrential rain finally descended upon the metropolis of Kolkata and its adjoining areas. The daily life of the city's residents had been thrown into disarray by the unbearable heatwave of the past few days.
