These Central Forces have been deployed at the Kalighat residence of Mamata and Abhishek as a special precautionary measure
Sanchita chatterjee kolkata dated May 4, 2026, acting on directives from the Election Commission of India, Central Forces have cordoned off the Kalighat residence of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress All-India General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee.
These Central Forces have been deployed at the Kalighat residence of Mamata and Abhishek as a special precautionary measure, amidst apprehensions regarding potential post-election unrest.
The Commission has taken this step in light of reports of disturbances across the state and incidents where Trinamool candidates were attacked in various locations.
In addition to the Central Forces, additional police personnel have been deployed from Lalbazar, and special surveillance arrangements—featuring plainclothes officers—have been implemented along the stretch extending from Hazra Crossing to Alipore-Gopalnagar Crossing.
A security cordon has been established around Abhishek Banerjee's residence on Harish Chatterjee Street, with police and Central Forces deployed throughout the vicinity.
These security measures have been implemented primarily to ensure that, in the wake of the election results, no untoward incidents occur and that unrest does not erupt—particularly in connection with victory processions.
