Madan Mitra: Urinary Complications, Condition Stable
Sanchita chatterjee kolkata : In a separate incident, TMC MLA Madan Mitra was admitted to Belle Vue Clinic on Monday evening following urinary system complications.
Hospital officials confirmed that the 70-year-old Kamarhati legislator is currently under medical observation and his condition is stable. Doctors said he could be discharged within a day or two if his health continues to improve.
Mitra, who retained the Kamarhati seat in the 2026 Assembly polls by defeating BJP’s Arup Choudhury by 5,646 votes, has been advised complete rest.
Political Impact Ahead of 2026
Both leaders play significant roles in TMC’s organizational structure. Subrata Bakshi has been the party’s state president since 2014 and is a Rajya Sabha MP from South Kolkata. Madan Mitra is a four-time MLA from Kamarhati and a prominent face of the party’s grassroots network.
With the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections results still fresh, the temporary absence of these two leaders could impact TMC’s post-election coordination and ground-level activities.
Several TMC leaders have enquired about the health of both veterans on Tuesday. Party workers have urged supporters to avoid speculation and wait for official medical updates.
Note: This article is based on reports from party sources and hospital officials as of May 12, 2026. No official medical bulletin has been released by either hospital or TMC leadership at the time of publication.
