Pink Card 2026 Update: AC Bus & Puri Route Free for Women? What Suvendu Adhikari Said

A big promise for 2026 has come out regarding free bus travel for women in West Bengal. Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari made a new announcement in a recent public meeting.

What is the 2026 Promise?

Suvendu Adhikari said, "If we come to power in 2026 or later, we will make AC/Volvo buses free for women in the state. Women will get this benefit on all long routes including Kolkata to Digha and Puri."

Current Situation Till 2026:

1. WB Govt Rule 2026: Only Non-AC buses of WBTC, SBSTC, NBSTC are free for women. Ticket is required for AC/Volvo buses. 2. Digha Route 2026: Non-AC buses are free. Only reservation charge applies if you book a seat. 3. Puri Route 2026: WB Pink Card is not valid outside West Bengal. No agreement has been made between WB and Odisha govt yet.

What Should Passengers Do in 2026?

As of 2026, no official notification has been issued by WB govt for free travel on AC buses or Puri route. So passengers should confirm the current rules with the ticket counter/conductor before boarding. 📌 2026

Following a long-standing dispute, the West Bengal government has taken a significant step toward clearing the outstanding Dearness Allowance (DA) dues of state government employees and pensioners.
