West Bengal Government Job Age Limit Increased to 42 Years in 2026WB govt job age limit increased by 2 years in 2026. Check new upper age limit for WBCS, Police, SSC and other state government jobs.

Sanchita chatterjee: The West Bengal cabinet on May 11, 2026, approved a 2-year increase in the upper age limit for state government jobs. The decision was taken in Suvendu Adhikari’s first cabinet meeting at Nabanna.

New Age Limit:

General Category: Now 42 years instead of 40 years

OBC Category: Now 45 years instead of 43 years  

SC/ST Category: Now 47 years instead of 45 years

This applies to all state-level recruitments including WBCS, WBPSC, Police, SSC, and other departmental exams. The change aims to provide more opportunities for candidates affected by COVID-19 delays and recruitment stoppages during the previous government tenure.

The new rule will be effective from the next recruitment notification issued by WBPSC and other state commissions.
