The cause of the fire that broke out in Jhargram at 1:30 AM last night remains unknown; an investigation is underway.

A devastating fire broke out in the Local Board area of ​​Jhargram town late Saturday night (May 9, 2026)—specifically around 1:00 AM on May 10—resulting in the complete destruction of seven shops in the locality.

The blaze reduced seven temporary shops belonging to local traders to ashes.Fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported in connection with this incident so far. Upon receiving the alert, a fire engine rushed to the scene, and after an effort spanning approximately two and a half hours, the fire was brought under control. The actual cause of the fire remains unknown; the police and the fire department have jointly initiated an investigation into the matter. A section of the affected traders alleges that a major conspiracy or act of sabotage may lie behind this fire. Following the incident, local BJP MLA Lakshmikanta Sau, along with other public representatives, visited the disaster-stricken area to inspect the situation.
