Iran on charges of espionage on behalf of Israel's intelligence agency, Mossad. |
Recently, multiple individuals have been executed in Iran on charges of espionage on behalf of Israel's intelligence agency, Mossad. However, no specific or official announcement has been issued in recent times regarding the public hanging of anyone on the streets of Iran. Most recently, on May 2, 2026, two individuals named Yakub Karimpour and Nasser Bakarzadeh were executed on charges of leaking information from Iran's Natanz nuclear facility. Prior to this, in April, three other individuals—Mohammad Masum Shahi, Hamid Validi, and Mehdi Farid—were also executed.
These death sentences were typically carried out inside prisons (such as Urmia or Evin Prison), following due legal processes and approval from the Supreme Court. There have been no reports of executions being conducted on the streets or in public view. The arrested individuals were providing Mossad with photographs of military and nuclear installations, the whereabouts of officials, and classified information regarding critical infrastructure in exchange for money.According to international human rights organizations, prisoners involved in political and espionage cases in Iran are subjected to torture to extract forced confessions, and death sentences are being handed down in a hasty manner. The reports regarding executions carried out on suspicion of being Israeli spies are indeed true.
