This decision was made against the backdrop of intense public criticism regarding political privileges, following the country's recent economic crisis. The message is clear: the leadership, too, must share the burden of responsibility.

  Sanchita chatterjee: In India, on the other hand, Members of Parliament continue to receive pensions under current laws. Although the issue occasionally surfaces in public discourse, no significant steps have been observed toward abolishing this system.
