Sanchita Chatterjee: The Trinamool Congress has lodged an FIR against an individual named Madan Mohan Jena. Baishanor Chatterjee—a lawyer for the Trinamool and a Member of the Mayor-in-Council—filed the FIR against this individual at Shakespeare Sarani Police Station, appealing for appropriate action to be taken against him. A case has been registered against Madan Mohan Jena under a total of 16 sections, including provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, the Information Technology Act 2000, and the Representation of the People Act (1950, 1951, and 1989). The complaint against Madan Mohan Jena alleges that he is deliberately publishing and circulating multiple videos on social media. Through these videos, the Trinamool alleges, he has consistently made obscene, derogatory, offensive, and sexually explicit remarks with the specific intent of insulting the dignity of the Trinamool Chairperson and Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee. Furthermore, the Trinamool has alleged that the accused, Madan Mohan Jena, acting at the behest of political rivals, is making false, provocative, communal, and racist comments in these videos. The FIR notes that such conduct by the accused individual could potentially trigger riots ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. The Trinamool Congress has alleged that Madan Mohan Jena has not only tarnished the reputation of the party Chairperson, Mamata Banerjee, but is also inciting animosity among various communities in the run-up to the Assembly elections. It has been reported that the Officer-in-Charge of Shakespeare Sarani Police Station has initiated an investigation into the matter after thoroughly examining the complaint.
