Background of the Incident The situation escalated following allegations that attempts were being made to obstruct the BJP's election campaign in the area; this led to verbal altercations and physical scuffles between the two opposing factions. The Incident While officers of the Central Forces were attempting to identify the alleged perpetrators by reviewing video footage, one officer suddenly delivered a hard slap to a local Trinamool leader. A video of this incident has gone viral across social media platforms.


Allegations and Reactions Abu Kalam Box, President of the Sabang Block Trinamool Congress, has alleged that the Central Forces officer in question deliberately targeted and assaulted their leader. Conversely, the BJP maintains that Trinamool workers were attacking their party members, and that the administration and security forces merely took necessary measures to manage the situation.
