Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sharply criticized the Trinamool Congress
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sharply criticized the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for opposing the *Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam*—or the Women's Reservation Bill—and asserted that the women of Bengal will make the TMC pay a "heavy price" (punishment) for this action.
Sanchita chatterjee: Prime Minister Modi's Allegations Prime Minister Modi alleged that the Trinamool Congress and other opposition parties conspired to obstruct the Women's Reservation Bill. He stated that these parties do not wish to see women elected as Members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs) or Members of Parliament (MPs) in greater numbers.
Modi unequivocally declared that the women of the country—and particularly the women of Bengal—will not forgive the TMC for the "misguided" act of blocking this bill.
TMC's Counter-Response In a counter-response, the Trinamool Congress denied these allegations. They characterized the BJP's legislation as an "unethical constitutional amendment bill." Prominent TMC leaders, such as Kunal Ghosh, explicitly stated that the TMC has no desire to receive any "lessons" from the BJP regarding the Women's Reservation Bill.
The Trinamool Congress—and specifically Mamata Banerjee—has repeatedly raised questions regarding how many times this same bill is to be passed, while also casting doubt on its actual efficacy.
