 In April 2026, the Kolkata Police suspended Ramakrishna Kayal, a constable belonging to their First Battalion of Armed Police.


In a video exceeding 20 minutes in length—in which Kayal appears in full police uniform—he alleged a systematic "Islamization" within the police department and the state administration over the past 15 years. He claimed that, throughout his 23-year career, he had witnessed instances of Bengali Hindus being subjected to forced religious conversion.

The constable issued a direct appeal to voters in South Bengal to defeat the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) during the second phase of the 2026 West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections, scheduled for The authorities leveled charges against him for a grave violation of the 'Service Conduct Rules.'
