Kolkata Police Deputy Commissioner (DCP) Shantanu Sinha Biswas has come under the scanner of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) amidst allegations of illegal land grabbing and financial irregularities.
reported by Sanchita chatterjee dated April 20, 2026, : the ED conducted prolonged searches at multiple properties belonging to him—including a flat in Ballygunge—and subsequently summoned him as well as his two sons. He previously served as a high-ranking officer in Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's security detail.
ED Searches On April 19–20, 2024, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted marathon searches lasting over 14 hours at his residences across various locations, including Ballygunge.
Allegations The allegations involve land grabbing through the use of forged documents, illegal construction, and illicit financial transactions with a criminal-turned-real estate promoter named Joy Kamdar—also known as 'Sona Pappu.'
Summons: The ED has summoned him and his two sons to the CGO Complex for interrogation.
