Reported by Sanchita chatterjee kolkata 7th May 2026: In light of the state's recent political landscape, stringent security and surveillance measures have been implemented at Swasthya Bhawan to safeguard government documents and files. Amidst the backdrop of the Lok Sabha elections and the shifting political climate, these special measures have been adopted to ensure that no critical government files or documents are illicitly smuggled out of—or 'made to vanish' from—Swasthya Bhawan under any circumstances.Doctors' Apprehensions and Letter to the Chief Secretary
On behalf of the 'Joint Platform of Doctors,' Dr. Punyabrata Gun and Dr. Hiralal Konar dispatched an urgent letter to the State Chief Secretary, Dushyant Nariala.
They expressed apprehensions that a certain section of the health administration might attempt to make critical documents and files disappear—or even destroy them—in an effort to cover up evidence of various irregularities and acts of corruption committed in the past.
They demanded that the records of every government office be preserved in a completely intact and secure condition.
The Chief Secretary's Strict Directives
Taking the prevailing situation into consideration—and acting upon the advice of the Governor—the State Chief Secretary has issued strict directives addressed to all government departments and departmental secretaries.
These directives explicitly state that no critical files or papers may be removed from any government office—including Swasthya Bhawan or Nabanna—under any circumstances.
Furthermore, the photocopying, scanning, or creation of digital copies of any government document without proper authorization has been strictly prohibited.
Should any file go missing or be destroyed, the high-ranking officials of the concerned department will be held personally accountable.
