GRSE Lays Keel for 4th Multi-Purpose Vessel for Germany | Make in India Export

 


 Reported by Sanchita chatterjee: Kolkata, 30 May 2026 - Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers GRSE today laid the keel for the fourth Multi-Purpose Vessel under its Germany export project.

The ceremony took place at GRSE RBD Unit, Kolkata. This vessel is being built for Germany-based Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler and Reederei GmbH & Co. KG.

**Vessel Specifications:**

**Type**: CORAL 7500 DWT Multi Purpose Vessel  

**Length**: 120 metres  

**Cargo Capacity**: 7,500 metric tonnes  

**Features**: Can carry bulk cargo, containers, project cargo, wind turbine blades  

**Total Order**: 12 vessels including hybrid propulsion variants

Shri M. Venkatesh Murthy, Executive Director of GRSE, attended the ceremony with German company representatives and DNV officials.

GRSE said this is the largest commercial shipbuilding export order in the company's history. The project supports the 'Make in India, Make for the World' vision.

With over 800 platforms built including 118 warships, GRSE continues to expand in international commercial shipbuilding.
