A college student met a tragic end in Jhargram after being crushed under a collapsing wall following incessant rainfall. Several others were injured in this accident.

The incident occurred late on Friday night (May 2, 2026) in Shukjora village, under the Shilda Gram Panchayat in Jhargram's Binpur-2 block. The victim was 19-year-old Pinky Das.

A college student met a tragic end in Jhargram after being crushed under a collapsing wall following incessant rainfall. Several others were injured in this accident.Several family members—including Sujit Das and Mrinal Das—were present at the time.

Due to heavy storms and rainfall over the preceding two days, the walls and roof of their mud house had become severely weakened. The structure collapsed suddenly while the family was asleep during the night.

Local villagers rescued the injured individuals and rushed them to a hospital, where doctors pronounced Pinky Das dead. Those with critical injuries have been transferred to the Jhargram Medical College Hospital. According to family sources, they had not received benefits under the government's housing scheme (Awas Yojana); consequently, the tragedy unfolded within their dilapidated mud dwelling.
