Sanchita chatterjee: Amidst the ongoing IPL season, Virat Kohli has found himself embroiled in controversy after 'liking' a photo posted by a German beauty. Now, Kohli's restaurant venture—'One8'—has also been shut down. Allegations regarding violations of fire safety regulations had previously surfaced against the 'One8 Commune' restaurant in Bengaluru; now, the establishment has been padlocked.
The restaurant was shut down by order of the city's Civil Court due to the non-payment of outstanding rent. Virat Kohli's restaurant reportedly has rent arrears spanning nearly six months; including maintenance costs and taxes, the total outstanding dues exceed ₹2 crore. Following this, the landlord of the premises housing the restaurant filed a lawsuit in court. In this very case, the presiding judge issued a stern directive, ordering the immediate closure of Virat's restaurant.
One8 Commune' is a premium restaurant and bar chain founded by Virat Kohli. The brand has a presence in major cities such as Delhi (Aerocity), Gurugram, Pune, Kolkata, Noida, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. It is renowned for its world-class cuisine, luxurious ambiance, and vibrant community dining experience. The establishment is a subsidiary of Virat Kohli's 'One8' brand and is operated in partnership with True Palate Hospitality. However, this court order has dealt a blow to Virat's public image.
