President Donald Trump announced on Sunday, April 19, 2026, that a U.S. delegation will travel to IslamabadPakistan, for a second round of peace negotiations with Iranon Monday evening. The talks follow a failed initial round held earlier in April. 

 President Trump stated that Vice President JD Vance will not lead this delegation due to security concerns. Instead, the team is expected to include special envoy Steve Witkoff and the president's son-in-law Jared KushnerTiming: Representatives are scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on Monday evening, April 20, 2026, for negotiations that could extend into Wednesday.

Iran's Stance: Iranian state media reports that Tehran has not yet made a final decision on sending its own delegation, citing the ongoing U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports as a primary obstacle. 

Ultimatum: Trump warned that if Iran rejects the "fair and reasonable deal" offered, the U.S. will target Iran's civilian infrastructure, specifically its power plants and 

While negotiations are planned, the U.S. naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz remains in effect. Iran has responded by closing the strait again until the blockade is lifted.
