Dinesh Trivedi Appointed as High Commissioner with the Aim of Strengthening India's Diplomatic Relations with Bangladesh.

 Reported by Sanchita chatterjee April 20, 2026:Dinesh Trivedi A veteran Indian politician and former Union Minister.   According to  the Government of India has appointed him as India's next High Commissioner to Bangladesh.

After being associated with Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress (TMC) for a long period, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2021.

With the aim of strengthening India's diplomatic relations with Bangladesh—and taking into account West Bengal's geographical and cultural proximity—the government has selected him for this significant diplomatic assignment.

Dinesh Trivedi Union Minister. According to  the Government of India has appointed him as India's next High Commissioner to Bangladesh. This is a rare occurrence, as officials from the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) are typically appointed to this post.
