Sanchita chatterjee 24  April 2026, Raghav Chadha the senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP, has reportedly quit AAP to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as of today, .  The Split Chadha claimed that nearly two-thirds (7 out of 10) of AAP's Rajya Sabha members are merging with the BJP, a move intended to bypass disqualification under the anti-defection law.

MPs Involved  Along with Chadha, other prominent MPs reportedly joining the BJP include Sandeep Pathak, Ashok Mittal, Harbhajan Singh, Swati Maliwal, Rajinder Gupta, and Vikram Sahney.

Reason for Leaving During a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Chadha stated that AAP had "strayed from its founding principles" and described himself as the "right man in the wrong party".

Recent Friction This move follows AAP's recent decision to remove Chadha from his post as the deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, reportedly over allegations of "soft PR" instead of raising key issues.
