Magician S. Barman performing a card trick on stage in Barrackpore to a packed audience
S. Barman stuns Barrackpore with his signature floating rose act, earning a standing ovation from 450+ attendees.

Reported  by Sanchita chatterjee:

Barrackpore witnessed pure wonder last weekend as magician S. Barman transformed an ordinary evening into something extraordinary. The community hall was packed wall to wall, with families, students, and even a few skeptics filing in early just to grab front-row seats. By 6:30 PM, the buzz was undeniable. From the moment Barman stepped on stage in his signature indigo jacket, the room shifted. He opened with a classic card routine, but with a twist that felt brand new. A borrowed wristwatch vanished, only to reappear inside a sealed lemon held by a stunned volunteer from the audience. Gasps turned into roars, and that set the tone for the night. What makes S. Barman different is how he blends storytelling with sleight of hand. Between tricks, he spoke about growing up in Barrackpore, practicing illusions with borrowed books from the local library. That local connection had the crowd rooting for him before the next trick even started. His “Floating Rose for Barrackpore” act, where a single rose drifted across the stage and landed in a child’s hands, earned a standing ovation. The kids were hooked, but so were the adults. His mentalism segment had a school teacher thinking of her childhood street, and Barman revealed it letter by letter on a chalkboard. No plants, no camera tricks, just sharp showmanship and a deep respect for his audience. Organizers said they expected 200 people. They counted over 450. After the show, Barman stayed back, signing notebooks and teaching one simple coin trick to a group of wide-eyed kids. Barrackpore has seen its share of cultural nights, but this one felt personal. S. Barman didn’t just steal the spotlight. He shared it with the town that raised him, and for two hours, everyone believed in a little bit of magic again. If you missed it, keep an eye out. Word is he’s planning a return show before Durga Puja.
