Dr. Niladri Narayan Basu Receives Prestigious Indo-Sri Lanka Lifetime Achievement Award 2026 in Colombo
Sanchita Chatterjee Howrah (September 24, 2026): Bengali palmist Dr. Niladri Narayan Basu was honored at 'The Sacred Astrological Symposium 2026' for shedding light on the role of astrologers in a rapidly changing world driven by artificial intelligence.
Dr. Basu presented his views on September 8 during the symposium, held in Colombo from September 7 to 11. The organizers were deeply impressed by the essence of his address. The following day, September 9, the organizing body honored Dr. Basu—a palmist and the head of the Kolkata chapter of 'IVAF'—with the 'Indo-Sri Lanka Lifetime Achievement Award 2026'.
Speaking to journalists at his Salkia residence yesterday evening while reminiscing about the experience, Dr. Basu said, "Just as in other fields, the application of artificial intelligence has begun in astrology. Many fear that the use of AI in this domain will adversely affect the livelihoods of astrologers. My perspective, however, was entirely different."
Dr. Basu added, "At the event, I stated that instead of viewing artificial intelligence merely as a rival or adversary to astrologers, we need to understand the technology and use it responsibly. However, alongside technology, we must uphold human judgment, experience, context, ethical responsibility, and traditional knowledge as the core foundations of professional astrological practice." According to Dr. Niladrynarayan Basu, "Invited astrologers from 20 countries attended 'The Sacred Astrological Symposium 2026' held at the Cinnamon Bay Beach Resort in Colombo, Sri Lanka; a total of nine individuals from India received invitations to participate in the event."
