The Gangasagar Mela 2026.

 



  Reported by Sanchita chatterjee  kolkata The Department of Posts, West Bengal Circle, is proud to announce the issuance of a Special Philatelic Cover and Special Cancellation dedicated to the Gangasagar Mela 2026. This special release honours the spiritual and cultural significance of one of the world's largest human congregations, held annually at the confluence of the River Ganga (also known as River Hooghly) and the Bay of Bengal.






The Special Cover on "Gangasagar Mela a confluence of tradition, devotion, emotion and spiritual belief" has been released by Shri Jitendra Gupta, Director General Postal Services, Department of Posts, at Kolkata GPO-700001 in the gracious presence of Shri Ashok Kumar, Chief Postmaster General, West Bengal Circle and other senior officers.


For 2026, the Department of Posts has designed a cover that captures the essence of this "Maha Snan" (holy dip), featuring the historic Kapil Muni Temple and the confluence of the River Ganga and the Bay of Bengal.



This Special Cover on "Gangasagar Mela-2026" will be available for sale at Kolkata GPO Philatelic Bureau.
