Reported by Sanchita chatterjee Bengal Tigers have performed brilliantly in the last two seasons of the Celebrity Cricket League. After becoming champions in 2024, their dreams were narrowly shattered in the semi-finals in 2025. In the new season, Jisshu Sengupta and his team aim to become champions once more.
According to international match rules, the tournament will now be played in the T20 format. The CCL will begin on January 16th. Bengal Tigers will play their first match against Mumbai on January 17th. Their next match will be against Chennai. Jisshu, Sourav, and others are flying to Visakhapatnam on Thursday. Coach Sharadindu Mukherjee conducted the final practice session in Kolkata on Tuesday morning. Jisshu, Bonny, Sourav, and Indrasish were present. Actor Indrasish returned to the team after two years following knee surgery.After the practice session, Bengal Tigers captain Jisshu Sengupta, coach Sharadindu Mukherjee, vice-captain Sourav Das, Bonny Sengupta, Indrasish, and team director Anilav Chatterjee held a press conference at the Kolkata Sports Journalists' Club.Captain Jisshu Sengupta said, “The format has changed this time. It will be a T20 tournament. Seven players in the playing eleven must be from Category A. It's difficult to get international grounds this time because of the World Cup. We were champions in 2024, and reached the semi-finals last time. The team is more or less the same. Let's see what happens this time. Before 2024, we were at the bottom. My team is very good. We play as a team. We don't care who is a bigger star. We stand by each other.”
Coach Sharadindu Mukherjee said, "Jisshu is our Dhoni because his voice is heard the most on the field." Sourav and Bonny said, "We are going to win the cup once again; we will return as champions."
