On the eve of the upcoming elections, the Commissioner has suspended three magistrates in Bhabanipur.

 Ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, the Election Commission has suspended three Executive Magistrates in Kolkata's Bhabanipur Assembly constituency on charges of dereliction of duty. The suspended magistrates are Satyarajan Pal (an LDC at SAI), Souvik Nandi (a teacher at Durgabala Datta Girls' School), and Suranjan Das (an UDC in a state government department). According to the allegations, while on Flying Squad duty on the night of April 17, these three magistrates were found sitting idly near the Bhabanipur Police Station, and no records or entries regarding their work could be found in any register. Central Observer D. Ranjit Kumar detected this negligence during a surprise inspection conducted around 10:00 PM.In addition to ordering their immediate suspension, the Commission has directed that departmental proceedings be initiated against these three individuals.

Reported by Sanchita chatterjee: On Sunday afternoon, following a prolonged interrogation, the ED arrested Jay S. Kamdar, the Managing Director of 'Sun Enterprise'. While being transported for a medical examination, he fell ill and is currently undergoing treatment at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital. Court Directive: Although the arrested individual was scheduled to be produced before the Bankshall Court today, this could not be done due to his physical illness. The Court has directed that he must be produced before the court by Tuesday (April 21); alternatively, a detailed medical report regarding his physical condition must be submitted.
