Kolkata Councillor Sushanta Ghosh faces ₹3 Crore extortion case.

After the case was filed, Sushanta Ghosh fled to Odisha. 
Kolkata Court issued Absconder Notice against him.

According to police sources, the extortion racket was running for several years in Anandapur and nearby areas. 
Hawkers were forced to pay monthly amounts ranging from ₹5000 to ₹20000 depending on their business size. 
The total collection is estimated to be around ₹3 Crore. 
Police have collected bank transaction records and mobile call records as evidence. 
Multiple witnesses have recorded statements before the magistrate.

**Legal Actions and Court Proceedings**
After the FIR was registered at Anandapur Police Station, Sushanta Ghosh failed to appear before investigators. 
Kolkata Sessions Court declared him an absconder and issued a non-bailable warrant. 
The court also ordered attachment of his properties in Kolkata and Odisha. 
Police teams are conducting raids in Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar to locate him. 
His passport has been impounded by authorities to prevent foreign travel.

Trinamool Congress leadership has distanced itself from the incident and said party does not support corruption. 
BJP and CPIM leaders are demanding immediate arrest and strict action against all involved. 
Local residents of Ward 108 are worried about civic development work getting stalled.

The case has raised questions about monitoring of elected representatives and transparency in local governance.
