Win an Election Once, Get a Lifetime Pension! How Neighboring Sri Lanka Put an End to This 'VIP Culture' Forever.  Sanchita chatterjee: Ordinary citizens receive a pension upon retirement only after serving the country in government jobs for 30 to 35 years. Political leaders, however, are entitled to a lifetime pension and lavish perks simply by serving as a Member of Parliament (MP) or Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for a mere five years. Neighboring Sri Lanka has now taken a historic and groundbreaking step regarding this controversial rule! On February 17 (2026), the 'Parliamentary Pensions Abolition Bill' was passed by an overwhelming majority in the Sri Lankan Parliament. Out of 225 members, 154 MPs—themselves—voted in favor of abolishing their own lifetime pensions! Sri Lanka's current President, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, had pledged even before assuming office that he would put an end to this political 'VIP culture' in order to rescue the ...

That 33% reservation for women could have easily been implemented within the existing framework of 543 seats!

Image
If a 33% reservation for women is indeed to be implemented, then simply allocate 33% of the existing 543 seats in the Lok Sabha—what exactly is the problem with that?  Sanchita chatterjee: It seems that 543 Members of Parliament (MPs) are insufficient for the task of looting the nation's taxpayers' money; consequently, that number is now being inflated to 850. I fully support the 33% reservation for women, but let that 33% be drawn from the existing pool of 543 seats. What does the move to increase the Lok Sabha to 850 seats reveal about the country's economic condition? Between salaries, allowances, travel funds, daily stipends, phone services, and medical benefits—each MP is effectively siphoning off 5 lakh rupees per month from the national exchequer. Their actual work output is zero, and their responsiveness is zero; furthermore, they enjoy 'Y+' category security cover and extract commissions from various development projects. In essence, the country is being p...

The Trinamool leader has defeated Modi in Delhi.

Image
The Trinamool leader has defeated Modi in Delhi. Did you know? How exactly did Mamata defeat Modi?  Reported by Sanchita chatterjee:Prime Minister Narendra Modi had introduced a bill in Parliament seeking 33% reservation for women; however, this Trinamool leader—Mamata Banerjee—along with other political parties such as the CPM and Congress, united in opposition to the bill and prevented its passage. The mothers and sisters of West Bengal should take note: the Trinamool Congress took a stance *against* the Women's Reservation Bill and, in doing so, defeated Modi. If these parties win the election, they will create thousands of "Abhayas" across Bengal—and those women, too, will be denied justice.
