This landmark finding, published on December 1, 2025, underscores the Eastern Himalayas' status as a critical biodiversity hotspot and adds a new chapter to India's entomological records. The newly identified species, named Neelus sikkimensis, is the first representative of the genus Neelus ever recorded in India. The discovery brings the global species count for this specific genus to eight. The Honorable High Court issued a stay order on December 16, 2024, on the order dated December 12, 2024, of the Clinical Establishment Regulatory Commission in the compensation case filed by patient Pranab Ghosh.  Simultaneously, the subsequent order regarding license cancellation was also challenged in the High Court, and the state authorities have been instructed not to implement that order.
